Ben had this really good idea …

When I worked with Ben a few weeks ago he mentioned a model that had caught his eye,  said he would love an opportunity to work with her and asked whether I’d be interested.
I was, that model was Camilla and this was his opportunity.
With no client or project brief the shoot was wide open. Ben had suggested he’d like to work art nude and something in a commercial style, so we went with, that.
The first set would be art nude and I brought Camilla on set for a lighting check shot.
As I went to take the shot she gave me a cheeky thumbs up which I later found out is something of a trademark of hers.  That first few seconds set the tone for the rest of the shoot, and only half a dozen shots later I knew I was working with someone a bit special.
Not only is Camilla an accomplished model with a great figure for classic art new work, but she has a personality that can light up the room.
Often while I’m working, Linda will flit around the studio with another camera stealing off-angle shots.  Camilla clicked to this very quickly and in between my shots started delivering quirky out-take shots for Linda and the two seemed to have formed a pact to get maximum fun from the shoot.
Meanwhile Ben and I got on with the business of the shoot, though I think both of us were struggling just to keep up with Camilla, and I know the computer I was capturing my images to definitely couldn’t keep up as she delivered shot after shot in rapid succession.
Ben popped back into the changing room at one point, leaving Camilla and I in the camera room.  A few shots later she had me convinced she was dance trained as she delivered classic ballet moves, but she assured me that she “was just good at faking it”.
With Ben back with us we worked our way through several art nude sets and then made the change to something with a commercial edge to it.
Ben is an experienced commercial model, but even here Camilla was able to keep up with him effortlessly and the shots just kept on coming 🙂
I finished the shoot with a set for one of my projects. I had already worked  this project with Ben in an earlier shoot, so this time it was just Camilla.
Now usually  I get the key shots, and then give the model an opportunity to “bugger about”, and this has delivered some great shots of models leaping in the air, doing handstands, break dancing and much more and I was looking forward to finding out just what Camilla would do.  I didn’t have to wait long. As she walked onto the set, she was way ahead of me and already throwing crazy poses.
I think Ben got what he wanted out of the shoot and I certainly got some great pics and a great new contact.
Camilla left us to drive on to her next shoot, she is a busy lady, and I’m not at all surprised.
Out-takes are always a favorite part of a shoot, especially with the models, so much so that I have a gallery on this site just for fun out-takes, but with Linda and Camilla cooperating in the fun at every opportunity we got way more than usual this shoot, so I’ve taken the for the first time I’ve created a gallery of out-takes for a single shoot.  Enjoy.
